Boulder, CO, December 15, 2006 -- With one season completed and “Elite” Triathlete status achieved, Boulder “Triathlete Mom” Susanne Achtenhagen has announced an ambitious tentative race schedule for 2007. The schedule calls for Susanne to kick off her season in Mexico, at the ITU Ixtapa Continintal Cup on May 12th, 2007. From there, it looks like it’s on to Hawaii, for the May 20th ITU Hololulu Pan Am Cup. “I wanted to pick events that would really motivate me, training-wise,” said Achtenhagen, 35, who just completed her first professional season in several years, after taking time off to start a family. “I know there are several months until my first competition, but I am so fired up for my second season!” So what is the off-season like for an Elite Triathlete with two young daughters? “I am taking advantage of the off-season by really working on my swimming, while building on the running and cycling progress I made last year.” said Achtenhagen. “But, as always, Kurt (husband) and I are focused on our daughters (Allison and Emily). That means school, preschool, kids events, and, of course, family fun!” Achtenhagen will also continue with her personal mission to encourage others to chase their dreams and find ways to balance work, fitness and family.
