Three years ago my world changed. After 12 years of struggling to find my own happiness, a single question changed everything. “What if you were okay just as you are today?” a friend asked.
In an instant, I went from living as a ‘sick’ person trying to get healthy, to seeing myself as a healthy person trying to live the best life possible.
My world changed because my thinking changed. Old habits fell away like leaves in the wind. And I realized that all change, all change, requires one simple thing: that we change our minds. No longer spending massive amounts of time and energy trying to fix my life, I was finally free to live an inspired life.
One year ago, I decided to act. As the 35 year old mother of two girls, I decided to compete as a triathlete. Prior to starting a family, I competed in triathlons as a moderately successful age group athlete in the 1990’s. In the past year, however, inspired by a clear vision, I qualified as a professional triathlete. In 2007, I will continue to race domestically and begin racing internationally.
Ultimately, I want to compete in the Olympics of 2008.
My vision, however, goes beyond even the Olympics. Because I have experienced personally the transformative power of a new thought, I want to use my life as a triathlete, and mother, as a metaphor to inspire people to change their thinking, to discover new perspectives on health and well being and to follow their dreams.
Triathlon is the venue I am choosing to get my face, my voice, and my vision of health and well being into the world. I hope that being a wife, mother of two, and successful triathlete will inspire people to explore new ways of thinking, living and being.
