San Dimas, CA, June 4, 2006 –35-year old Susanne Achtenhagen of Boulder, CO used a strong push during the bike and run segments to win the 2006 Los Angeles DANSKIN Women’s Triathlon.

The race was held at Bonelli Park in San Dimas. 621 women finished, with Achtenhagen leading the way with a time of 1:18:35. Second place went to Diana Lovejoy of Encinitas, CA, while Kathryn Donovan of Simi Valley, CA came in third.

The sprint-distance triathlon featured a 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run, and was open to women ages 14 and up.

“It was wonderful to be back in California,” said Achtenhagen, a Santa Clara native. “The weather was awesome – hot but not too hot – and I liked the hilly course. To win the race with my mom at the finish line was incredible!”

The next location in the 2006 Danskin series is Austin, TX, on June 11th.
